Aja Rutledge Coaching

About Me

Hey! I'm Aja (Ā-jah)

I've personally experienced the profound impact of trauma in my life. Unaware for a long time, I faced challenges in realizing my aspirations, and my coping mechanisms became evident. A turning point came when my physical well-being was affected. This prompted a holistic healing journey – addressing body, mind, and spirit.

Exploring trauma, wellness, herbs, and nature's impact on human wellbeing, I gained insights to share. Certified in Trauma Recovery Coaching, I'm committed to helping people facilitate their healing and achieve their desired lives. I take this work seriously, understanding the journey to healing. You deserve someone who gets it. Let's embark on this journey together.

I was a Type-A, perfectionistic, 10+ year corporate leader turned entrepreneur, with a child and a side hustle.

I was doing everything society says we should do to get ahead but what I didn’t know was that I was acting out my traumas. I wasn’t caring for my body (not my eating my meal until 3 pm…anyone?). I put everyone and everything else before me. I was burning the candle on both ends for years.

My childhood trauma’s were driving my life and I was accumulating traumas as I continued on. The corporate world felt like it was literally chipping parts of me away day after day. I learned how to maneuver it but maneuvering it led me to betray myself, day after day. Eventually I became a full-time entrepreneur and that relieved a lot but it also brought on a different set of challenges resulting from developmental trauma.

I carried on like this for over 15 years. Until my body broke down…

My body gave up. It stopped. It said NO MORE! I couldn’t work. I couldn’t sleep. I reacted to everything…food and supplements that never gave me issues in the past. It was awful and to make matters worse, doctors kept telling me I was great. All labs were normal!

I knew that in order to get well, I’d have to lead the process myself. This started what I consider a profound journey back to my Self. This journey was set on a foundation of trauma recovery work. On top of that was health and wellness work and then spiritual work. What I know now was that my nervous system was stuck in “on”. I had been in flight and freeze for decades. There was so much work to be done.

I know what the journey to recover from trauma is like. I understand how trauma can impact you, personally and professionally. I also know how to heal and find a way to live the life you desire…how you want to live it.

I can help you get there.

I am in the process of obtaining my Trauma Recovery Certification from the International Association of Trauma Recovery Coaches.

I understand that trauma is nothing to take lightly and if you’re coming for trauma coaching, it took a lot for you to take these steps. It requires someone who knows what they are doing and someone who cares enough to be well informed, educated and experienced in trauma. Because of that, in addition to the 4 years of rigorous self-study I’ve done on trauma, I sought certification through the most rigorous program I could find.

This program includes a live 6-month training with practice groups, mentoring, supervision, passing a supervised exam, completing a practicum, and submitting a client case study.

After obtaining certification, it is mandatory for me to pursue ongoing education, fulfill annual CEU requirements through course completion, adhere to specified supervision hours, stay updated on psychoeducational developments, and engage with accountability and mentorship provided by supervisors within my association.

Estimated certification completion date: February 28, 2024.
